Preserving Traditions
Embracing the Past
The Inspiration
When Advait Joshi, our founder, witnessed the cultural and social loss of Kashmiri Pandit Culture, language, and traditional crafts, he realized that a crucial part of the Kashmiri Pandit identity was slipping away.

Advait later discovered that the trauma of displacement has led to a focus on survival over cultural preservation, leaving little room for the younger generation to connect with their roots.
Team Kashmiri Virasat Foundation believes that preserving Kashmiri Pandit culture is not just about nostalgia; it's about empowering the community, fostering a sense of identity, and ensuring that future generations inherit a rich and vibrant heritage.

Our Mission
The Kashmiri Virasat Foundation is dedicated to empowering and uplifting the Kashmiri Pandit community. We strive to preserve their rich cultural heritage, foster social and economic inclusion, and advocate for their rights and well-being. Through education, cultural programs, community development initiatives, and social justice advocacy, we aim to create a future where the Kashmiri Pandit community thrives and flourishes, both within India and globally.

Interviews

"I was 5 years old when this grave tragedy struck our community. I have myself been witness to this gory truth. One of my youngest uncles named xxx was shot in broad daylight right outside his house in March 1990. More than 34 years have passed since our genocide, with justice still distant. Instead of fighting, we should prioritize the growth of our community and learn from others who have overcome great suffering. These were some of the moments of unspeakable loss and trauma, stitched into our collective memory. But it takes one person to inspire change, which is the change you bring to our community."
"No justice has been served for the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits; killers like Yasin Malik, who openly admitted to atrocities. Roam-free, shielded by political agendas. It was not mere displacement but a forced exodus, pre-planned by Congress and NC, leaving us stripped of our homeland and possessions. We sold everything to buy small flats, following the guidance of Jagmohan Ji, but the government exploited our pain and ignored us, treating us as a dispensable vote bank. While I respect BJP's national priorities, they too have appeased others at our expense. Our heritage is fading—intercaste marriages, neglect of traditions, and loss of respect for elders are eroding our identity. If we don't act now, we risk losing everything that defines us."
